  2. SUPPORT FOR POWERKIT: If you have a modem, you can get prompt answers to your 
  3. questions, and download the latest files by contacting me at (303) 595-4218.  
  4. Let the phone ring once, then hang up.  Put your modem online and call again 
  5. within the next 90 seconds.  For voice service, let the phone ring twice.

  7. INSTALLATION:
  8.  
  9. POWERKIT installation is easy, just type "PK" at the DOS prompt (if you are 
  10. using a 101/102 key keyboard driver, KEYB??.COM, type PK AFTER loading the 
  11. driver).  Installing the keystroke buffer (POWERKIT's keystroke buffer can hold 
  12. from 15 to 255 keystrokes) is a bit more difficult, but POWERKIT will run just 
  13. fine WITHOUT IT (and vice versa).  Its installation is described later.

  15. WHAT DOES POWERKIT DO?
  16.  
  17. Once POWERKIT is loaded, you will notice your keys repeating more rapidly, and 
  18. without run-on.  You can set the repeat rate to a value that is comfortable for 
  19. you. 
  20.  
  21. Your screen will blank after a few minutes, if you haven't typed anything.
  22.  
  23. As mentioned above, you can set the typeahead buffer to more than the ridicu-
  24. lous 15 keystrokes that the BIOS provides.  Also, you can open a WINDOW into 
  25. that buffer when you are typing "blind" (to see and correct your mistakes).

  27. Your floppy disk drive motor can be shut down earlier.
  28.  
  29. If a program of yours happens to hang-up, Press KEYPAD 5, ESC to get back to 
  30. the DOS prompt. 
  31.  
  32. Or press KEYPAD 5, E to exit a program temporarily.  Then type "exit" at the 
  33. DOS prompt to return to your program.
  34.  
  35. If you have a non-standard keyboard (Tandy 1000, for example), try the 
  36. KEYBOARD REDEFINE in a program that doesn't get along with your keyboard.
  37.  
  38. Use HOOK to let resident utilities pop up inside programs that won't let them. 
  39.  
  40. Try KEYPAD 5, A, it lets you define a MACRO that you can have repeat as fast  
  41. or as slow (as slow as once every 4 mins. 15 secs.) as you like.  Or, it will  
  42. repeat one or more MACROS created by another program. 
  43.  
  44. If you take a laptop on trips, KEYPAD 5, P lets you run Word Processors on it, 
  45. even when they insist that a printer be attached (I keep this ON all the time 
  46. because I'm always hitting Prc Sc or SHIFT Prt Sc when I don't want to).

  48. There's lots more, but I'm running out of breath.  POWERKIT has more features,  
  49. packed into a smaller space, and costing less ($9.95), than anything else on 
  50. the market.  If you try it for awhile, you'll begin to LOVE it.  It'll increase 
  51. your productivity, and lower your tension level.  In short, POWERKIT is a  
  52. mini-masterpiece.

  54. I wouldn't think of telling you what to do, but if I were you, I'd BUY it, it's 
  55. a WINNER (also, there are prompt answers for your questions waiting online for 
  56. you at (303) 377-6725).

  58. KEYSTROKE BUFFER INSTALLATION:
  59.  
  60. To operate the typeahead buffer, the file KYBD.BUF must be on your boot 
  61. disk, and the line:

  63.  DEVICE=KYBD.BUF (instructions to KYBD.BUF may go here) 
  64.  
  65.  
  66. must be in the CONFIG.SYS file on your boot disk.  Ideally, this line should be 
  67. near the TOP of your CONFIG.SYS file.  Your boot disk is the floppy disk you 
  68. place in disk drive "A" when you turn the machine on, unless you have a hard 
  69. disk drive, in which case your boot disk is the hard disk.  If you do not have 
  70. a file named CONFIG.SYS on your boot disk, transfer the CONFIG.SYS file that 
  71. comes with this package to your boot disk at the same time you transfer KYBD-
  72. .BUF.  To transfer these files, boot up, put the disk containing KYBD.BUF and 
  73. CONFIG.SYS in floppy disk drive "B", then type:

  75.  COPY B:KYBD.BUF <press ENTER>
  76.  COPY B:CONFIG.SYS <press ENTER> 
  77.  
  78. If your machine has only one floppy disk drive, and no hard disk drive, drive 
  79. "B" is also drive "A", and the above procedure will involve swapping your boot 
  80. disk with the KYBD.BUF disk, and back again. Reboot your computer, KYBD.BUF 
  81. will let you know if it is loaded.
